Currently, parents are not forced to make a cancellation payment to you however the app does give them a very easy way to make a goodwill payment to their babysitter when having to cancel on them at late notice.
We've taken this approach because what's quite clear, is that each cancellation scenario is different, and a parent and sitter's expectations in these instances vary quite widely. A fixed - one size fits all - approach is not therefore possible.
At the same time, as parents ourselves, we firmly believe that in most circumstance, a parent is more than willing to make a payment to their babysitter when having to cancel on them at short notice.
Bubble is a marketplace, a community, and thrives when both sides treat each other fairly and with respect.
Our job is to provide our customers the tools that makes it super-easy for them to do that - and our optional cancellation function is an example of that.
While our role as a marketplace is to connect parents and sitters to each other, allowing them to make informed choices themselves - it's still hugely important to us that the babysitters on our app are treated fairly and have a great experience on Bubble.
Which is why this is an area we keep under constant review.
Please note, when a parent makes a cancellation payment to you, Bubble will collect 3.5% of that amount in order to cover the costs of online payment processing and bank transfers.
